Most of the more than 150 species presented here are found in eastern North America.

A bird often uses a call for a particular purpose. Whenever possible I have described how the bird uses the song or call I have recorded, or else how the bird was behaving when I recorded the sound.

Birds are grouped by family. The number in parenthesis is the number of birds in each family presented here.
